Good to know
What is drop-frame timecode?
At 29.97 or 59.94 fps, drop-frame timecode skips certain timecode labels so the clock stays close to real elapsed time. No video frames are removed. Labels 00 and 01 at 29.97 fps, or 00 through 03 at 59.94 fps, are skipped at the start of each minute except every tenth minute.
Why does elapsed time differ from my timecode?
Non-drop timecode counts labels at a nominal rate. For example, 23.976 uses 24 labels per nominal second. Actual elapsed time uses the exact fractional frame rate, so the two can differ.
Does it wrap at 24 hours?
No. This calculator handles durations up to 9,999 hours and negative subtraction results. It does not convert between source and project frame rates.
