Import the footage into Focus and let visual analysis finish. In Search → Visuals, describe a visible action or provide a reference image. Open candidate shots in their original video and save the useful range as a Select.

Bring the footage into Library.
Import the local camera files or add their folder as a source. Let Focus create visual search data for the footage you want to search.

Describe what the camera sees.
Open Search, choose Visuals, and enter a concrete description such as ‘hands tuning a piano’. You can also use a reference image when you have one.

Inspect the candidate in context.
Open a result, play the source around it, and check framing, motion, duration and image quality. A visual match is a lead, not an editorial decision.

Keep the useful range.
Save the checked moment as a Select. Repeat with another description and bring your chosen shots into a Sequence when you are ready to edit.

Common questions
Do I need to tag every shot first?
No. Visuals searches visual descriptions and related signals created during analysis. Existing metadata and tags can still help you narrow a large library.
Can I search with a reference image?
Yes. Search supports a reference image. Use one when a frame expresses the look better than words, then inspect each returned source shot.
Will this find the perfect cutaway automatically?
It finds candidates. Review composition, movement, continuity and rights in the source before you select a clip.
