From footage to a first cut.

Short description
Focus is a video library for Mac and Windows. It lets users search spoken words or visual content in indexed videos, review the source clip and prepare selects and sequences for editing.

Product introduction
Focus is for editors, documentary makers and creators who need to find a passage in their own footage. The application indexes spoken words and visual content, then links search results to source clips. Editors can review a passage, check its context and save useful moments as Selects. Focus Pro adds Sequences and advanced exports to prepare the next stage of an edit. Default processing takes place on the computer. Focus is available for Mac and Windows, with one-time licenses and a trial limited to 30 indexed videos.

Before the edit comes the search.
Interviews, B-roll, archive footage: work often starts with finding a passage you remember filming. Focus makes this material searchable through spoken words and visual content. Results stay linked to their source clips, so an editor can check the context before choosing what belongs in the cut.

A shot retrieved. A sequence prepared.
This walkthrough uses public media from the demo library. The query is real; the five-moment sequence was already prepared in Focus.

1. Find
The query “Yosemite Valley” returns passages from the clip with timestamps and match types. Open a result to review the source.

2. Verify
The player puts the passage back in its clip. Segments show in and out points, leaving the editor in control of the context and the passage selection.

3. Assemble
The demo sequence contains five moments with a total duration of 24 seconds. The Export view prepares an FCPXML handoff. Sequences and advanced exports are part of Focus Pro.
